LZS Celebrates Strategic Partners Helping Selangor Zakat Collection and Distribution

SHAH ALAM, 30 April 2025 – Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) continues to reinforce its position as a key catalyst for the wellbeing of the ummah by recognizing the role of strategic partners who form the backbone of the state’s zakat management ecosystem through the organization of the Majlis Gemerlapan Rakan Strategik Zakat Selangor (GRASIAZ) 2025, held here today.

These partners include company agents, audit and tax firms, banks, postal services, assistant amils from Higher Education Institutions (IPT) and Private Islamic Educational Institutions (IPIS), as well as employers under the LZS salary deduction scheme (SPG), all of whom play a significant role in strengthening zakat collection in the state.

Five awards were presented to SPG employers and 11 awards to collection agents in recognition of outstanding performance throughout 2024.

The SPG Employer Award was given based on the highest percentage increase in collection across four main categories: government, private sector, statutory bodies, and higher education institutions. MBSB Bank Berhad received the Umar Abdul Aziz Special Award (Best SPG Management) for consistent achievement in wakalah zakat collection and management since 2009, including a 42% increase in SPG collection in 2024.

For the Collection Agent Awards, recognition was given to consultancy agents, assistant amils, and payment platforms for their outstanding performance in collection and expanding the reach of zakat payers.

Maahad Tahfiz Al Fateh received the Abdullah Bin Abbas Award (Creative & Innovative Agent) through a digital promotion initiative that significantly enhanced collection reach. Meanwhile, Erth Al Mustafa Foundation was announced as the recipient of the Zaid Bin Harithah Award (High-Performing New Agent) after recording collections exceeding RM1 million in their first year of appointment. Overall award evaluation included collection growth, number of new payers, management efficiency, and the ability to create sustainable impact within the community.

GRASIAZ 2025 also saw 10 companies receive the Muzakki Recognition (IKTIRAF) as a token of appreciation for collaborating with LZS in supporting asnaf through their commitment to paying business zakat and income zakat.

IKTIRAF was introduced in 2021 as LZS’s recognition of corporate companies that consistently pay business zakat and employers committed to implementing SPG for their staff.

During the same event, LZS also received business zakat payments from three companies totaling RM409,051.75. The three corporate contributors were Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad, contributing RM308,298.43, followed by Kiddocare Sdn Bhd with RM90,753.32, and TSM Venture Group Sdn Bhd with RM10,000.00.

Also present were Dato’ Seri Utama Diraja Mufti Selangor, Dato’ Dr. Anhar Opir, and LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Khaidzir Shahari.
