The journey of Rahmah embracing Islam was not easy. At first, Rahmah kept her conversion to Islam secret from her parents. Their initial reaction was cold and distant. However, Rahmah never responded with anger. With patience, she maintained her relationship with them, and eventually, love and prayers opened her parents’ hearts to accept her guidance with full consent.
Starting as a worker in a small eatery and later at a tent company for almost 15 years, Rahmah eventually received encouragement from her family to open her own warung in Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Bumbun.
The year 2014 marked her first steps as a nasi lemak vendor alongside her beloved husband. After enduring the challenges of the Movement Control Order (PKP), she began preparing hot meals at night to sustain her livelihood. Behind her smile, Rahmah faced various health challenges such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and knee pain, yet her spirit never wavered. She was determined to provide halal food to the Orang Asli community in her area, who had limited access to Muslim food options.
Even more touching, Rahmah not only runs her business but also gives back. She frequently receives requests to provide iftar meals from agencies such as the Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA) and local schools. She is also trusted by others to distribute hot food to underprivileged communities. Her conversion has inspired some of her younger siblings to embrace Islam as well. Rahmah is not just an entrepreneur; she is a trailblazer, a connector of hearts, and a light of da’wah in the village. Among the assistance she has received are:
House construction aid (2010)
Food aid (2014)
Aidilfitri token (2014–2016)
House repair assistance (2022)
Allowance for Fardhu Ain Classes for New Muslims (KFAM)
